Holiday Craft: Kissing Ball
Dating back to the Middle Ages, people created balls of different shapes and sizes using greenery and hung them to wish blessings and good tidings to all who passed beneath the decorations during the holiday season.
Taught by Melanie Welles Creamer, Senior Manager of Horticulture and longtime floral designer, participants will have fun “cultivating” their creative talents!
A variety of fresh greens, the kissing balls foam core, mini pine cones, berries, and ribbons will be provided.

Learning with the Mount Vernon Horticulture group has been a wonderful experience!
In their classes, I have learned to make stunning centerpieces for my home, but I have also learned the basics of flower arrangement.
I carry this knowledge with me and can now make beautiful arrangements from cuttings from my yard and even simple grocery store flowers. -Michele
I loved the holiday wreath-making class at Mount Vernon! It was so much fun to be able to learn how to make a wreath with step-by-step instructions and guidance from the greenhouse staff.
I left with a beautiful holiday wreath I had up all season, and a lot of great tips on how to make wreaths in the future. It was a fun social event, and really informative! -Katelin
