Ingredients

  • 1 gallon dandelion blossoms
  • 1 gallon water
  • 1 lemon
  • 3 oranges
  • 3 pounds of sugar
  • 1/2 yeast cake

Directions

Gather 1 gallon of dandelion blossoms while the sun is shining so they will be open, over which pour 1 gallon of water. Let stand in a cool place for 3 days. Then put into a porcelain kettle with the rind of 1 lemon and 3 oranges cut fine; boil 15 minutes, then strain. Add the juice and pulp of the lemon and oranges and 3 pounds of sugar. When lukewarm, add 1/2 yeast cake. Let it stand 1 week in a warm place, then strain and let it stand until it stops working, after which bottle.

Yields 4 quarts
