The application for the Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows program requires four (4) written essays and/or video statements:
#1: Describe an experience when you exhibited leadership skills to accomplish something of significance either on campus or within your community.
#2: Why are you applying to be a Mount Vernon Leadership Fellow? What do you hope to contribute to the program and learn as a Leadership Fellow?
#3: George Washington had a bias for action. This program requires you to develop your own plan of action, which we call the Capstone Project, around an issue you care about on your campus or in your own community. What would your capstone project be? What is your experience with your cause and why are you passionate about it? What would you hope to accomplish over the course of the summer?
#4: What can the study of American history teach us about leadership?
