Location

Fort Ticonderoga

Referring to Henry Knox, Washington once wrote to John Adams, “there is no man in the United States with whom I have been in habits of greater intimacy; no one whom I have loved more sincerely, nor any for whom I have had a greater friendship”. Through this one-day workshop with Fort Ticonderoga, teachers will examine the relationship of these two men through rich content, primary sources, and a tour of Fort Ticonderoga.

Participants will...

  • Explore the life, leadership, and legacy of both George Washington and Henry Knox
  • Participate in primary source analysis workshops and learn how to bring them into the classroom
  • Use the power of place to tell the story of Washington and Knox during the Revolutionary War, and examine the lives of the common soldier at Fort Ticonderoga
  • Gain strategies and new methodology for teaching to take back to their classrooms

The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Lunch and coffee will be provided.
