The National Treasure Tour at Mount Vernon

George Washington: Pioneer Farmer Site
July has always been a time of celebration at George Washington’s farm as it marks the beginning of the wheat harvest season. To celebrate Washington the farmer, Mount Vernon’s farm staff kick-off the season on the Fourth of July with wheat-treading demonstrations at the George Washington: Pioneer Farmer site.

Gardens

The Upper Garden includes a wide variety of flowers and trees, boxwood planted in Washington's day, and a few vegetable beds. The beds have been restored to their originial size, based on careful archaeological excavations, and two boxwood parterres have been re-created with the French fleur-de-lis design that Washington admired.

Tribute at the Tomb
